After dark, exploration takes on a different energy.Nat Geo Nights transforms the Museum of Exploration into a 21+, after-hours experience filled with live music, storytelling, art, cocktails and unexpected discoveries around every corner.Spend the evening exploring this month’s theme: America’s National Parks. Wander through artist activations, hear stories from National Geographic Explorers and experience the museum in an entirely new way, all while enjoying themed drinks, live DJs and after-hours access to exhibitions.

Dive into an artist activation featuring nighttime sky photography by National Geographic Explorer Babak Tafreshi. Then, sip on creative cocktails and mocktails that transport you to your favorite parks while you dance through the night to a live DJ in the Pavillion.Hear from Explorers Wesley Sarmento and Kaggie Orrick during pop-up talks, then explore the MOE during a Scavenger Hunt activity complete with giveaways and more.Plus, enjoy complimentary access to the Courtyard Nighttime Experience on a first-come, first-served basis.
This program is part of our ongoing A250 series in partnership with the America250 commission, exploring the people, places and stories that have shaped the United States in the 250 years since the founding of the nation.

Since 2007, Tafreshi has been directing a growing team of photographers in nearly 25 countries for “The World at Night” project. Since 2023, he has documented the night-time ecosystem and impact of light pollution in his "Life at Night Atlas.”

Scavenger hunt winners will have the chance to win featured merch from the Museum Shop like apparel, stuffed animals, art prints and more.
Guests must be 21+ years of age to attend this event. However, we offer plenty of other programming that is perfect for all ages.
