Museum Staff

Our museum staff are stationed throughout the museum — you can easily identify them by their ID badges and uniforms. They are eager to help assist you with any questions you may have.

Service Animals

Trained service animals are welcome at the Museum of Exploration.

Wellness Spaces

The Museum of Exploration offers dedicated wellness spaces designed for nursing, rest, reflection and recharging — providing a calming break during your visit. These quiet areas support mindfulness and comfort for all guests.

An inclusive approach to accessibility

Mobility Needs

  • Wheelchairs and cane stools are available to borrow at the front desk or coat check.
  • Elevators or wheelchair lifts provide access.

Hearing Support

  • Multilingual Web Page: Scan QR codes throughout the museum to navigate to a fully accessible, multilingual web page available during your visit.
  • Visual Descriptions: Access fully screen reader accessible Visual Descriptions — written descriptions for all exhibit text, objects, and images.
  • Audio Descriptions for Large Media: Dedicated synchronized Audio Descriptions are provided for all large presentations.
  • Audio Descriptions for Smaller Media: Smaller media pieces (like touchscreens) offer on-site Audio Descriptions via accessible keypads and headphone jacks.
  • Assistive listening devices are available for shows in the Grosvenor Auditorium. You're also welcome to use your own personal device for audio assistance.

Vision Support

  • Braille in English and Spanish is provided for all instructional text and wayfinding within the accessible reach zone (including handrails).
  • All exhibit text in English and Spanish is available online through a screen-reader accessible website.
  • QR codes throughout the site link to a WCAG 2.2-compliant webpage with exhibit text.
  • Each QR code directs to its specific section of the webpage for easy navigation.

Sensory Kits

  • Sensory kits are available to borrow at the main lobby info desk to use during your visit and include a variety of items to assist with sensory stimulation or dampening.
